When we experience stress our sympathetic nervous system actively engages- think of the ‘Fight, Flight, Freeze response- and the parasympathetic nervous system is shut down or is inefficient.
The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for digestion, sleep, restoration, etc.
With the parasympathetic system shut down, our digestive system has difficulty doing its job, which interferes with its ability to break down the food we eat into the macronutrients and micronutrients our body needs for nourishment.
it slows heart rate, lowers blood pressure and blood sugar levels, improves sleep and digestion, can help relieve muscle tension and headaches, and may be instrumental in pain relief and management.
The regular practice of relaxation techniques can help with anxiety & depression, and improves coping during stressful events.
Modern-day acupuncture is no longer just about working with energy and Qi. Acupuncture works with many systems of the body including the nervous system, muscular system, endocrine system, and the body’s fascial network.
Although the exact mechanisms of action in TCM are still not specifically known, several studies have begun to describe biomedical effects at the molecular and cellular level.
By activating neurotransmitters such as serotonin and GABA, acupuncture provides a calming and tranquilizing effect resulting in deep relaxation and/or sleep. This effect assists in the treatment of conditions such as insomnia, anxiety, addictions, mental health, and provides stress relief.
Assists the internal state of the body to return to a natural balance. This involves the sympathetic, and parasympathetic divisions of the nervous system and the endocrine system.
Enhances and helps modulate the immunity response.
Assists with local circulation, tissue oxygenation, and cellular regeneration to promote the body’s self-healing.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and National Institute of Health (NIH) acknowledge the large body of evidence of clinical studies that show the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture.
In addition, research on acupuncture’s effectiveness is growing including numerous fMRI studies.

In addition to being excellent at promoting Stress Relief, acupuncture, as well as other adjunctive treatment modalities, such as Cuping, GuaSha and Qi Gong, nutrition, & herbal medicine, successfully provide symptom relief such as anxiety, insomnia, pain, & inflammation, and maintain overall good health.
There is a growing body of literature suggesting acupuncture is very effective at reducing pain and/or changing how our bodies experience pain. Studies have shown the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating many types of pain including lower back pain, knee pain, tension headaches, and migraines.

More and more parents are seeking alternative methods of treatment for their children.
Acupuncture is an extremely safe, all natural, drug-free therapy to improve health and enhance wellness in children. In some instances, children respond much more quickly than adults.
Parents remain in the treatment room during the sessions and are encouraged to learn strategies for at home maintenance. We typically schedule children’s treatment sessions for thirty minutes.
Many children, as well as a lot of adults, are afraid of needles. So the pairing of acupuncture and kids might not be an obvious one.
However, each child is unique. Although many children have no difficulty with the use of these very fine, tiny needles, we will discuss and factor in the comfort levels of parent and child, age, physical condition, sensitivities, prior experiences with vaccines or other injections, etc.
Consequently, alternative methods for treatment and stimulation of the acupuncture points can be used, for example: acupressure, massage, lasers or Japanese teishin (non-insertive, contact tools). Your practitioner will discuss options with you prior to each treatment.

(For families with multiple children, each additional child $65)
